Abstract

Perilaku hidup bersih dan sehat merupakan tindakan yang dapat mencegah berbagai penyakit, namun tindakan ini masih jarang diterapkan oleh anak usia sekolah sebagai kelompok usia yang beresiko terhadap masalah kesehatan. Salah satu pendekatan pendidikan kesehatan yang efektif pada anak usia sekolah terkait penerapan perilaku hidup bersih dan sehat yaitu dengan metode Peer Educator. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi perbedaan perilaku hidup bersih dan sehat sebelum dan sesudah intervensi peer educator pada siswa sekolah dasar. Metode: Desain penelitian ini yaitu quasy eksperimental yang terdiri dari 36 responden kelompok eksperimen dan 36 responden kelompok kontrol. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan simple random sampling dan menggunakan uji statistik uji Wilcoxon dan Mann Whitney U. Hasil: Perilaku hidup bersih dan sehat sesudah intervensi peer educator pada kelompok eksperimen mengalami peningkatan yang signifikan dengan mayoritas berada pada kategori PHBS baik (88,9%), sedangkan kelompok kontrol tidak mengalami peningkatan dengan mayoritas berada pada kategori PHBS cukup (63,9%). Kesimpulan: Perilaku hidup bersih dan sehat siswa SDN Patrang 02 Jember terdapat perbedaan sesudah intervensi peer educator antara kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol yang menunjukkan nilai (p 0,0005<0,05). Diskusi: Pendidikan kesehatan oleh peer educator direkomendasikan untuk sekolah karena metode ini dapat meningkatkan perilaku hidup bersih dan sehat pada siswa sekolah dasar.
